Wen-Chen Chang
張文貞

Wen-Chen Chang is an Associate Professor at the National Taiwan University College of Law, where she teaches constitutional law, introduction to Anglo-American law, American constitutional law, international human rights, and Asian constitutionalism. She received her J.S.D from Yale Law School in 2001 with a dissertation titled “Transition to Democracy, Constitutionalism and Judicial Activism: Taiwan in Comparative Constitutional Perspective.” Before joining NTU College of Law, she was an Assistant Professor at the Graduate Institute of National Development, NTU (August 2002 to July 2004) and an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Law at Soochow University (February 2002 to January 2003).

Professor Chang received Wu Ta-Tou Research Award by National Science Council in 2010 and Excellence in Teaching Award by National Taiwan University in 2007. Since August 2008, she has been serving as Editor-in-Chief of National Taiwan University Law Review. She also serves as a member of various advisory bodies in the government and the university.

Professor Chang publishes widely in the areas of comparative constitutional laws, international human rights, public laws, and regulatory theories. Her recent publications include: “Strategic Judicial Responses in Politically Charged Cases: East Asian Experiences”, (2011) International Journal of Constitutional Law; “The Emergence of East Asian Constitutionalism: Features in Comparison”, (2011) 59 (3) American Journal of Comparative Law (co-authored); “Public-Interest Litigation in Taiwan: Strategy for Law and Policy Reforms in Course of Democratization”, in Public Interest Litigation in Asia 136-160 (Po Jen Yap Holning Lau eds.) (2010).
